Safer STEM’s On-site and In-Person training for Science & STEM Safety educators is designed for school districts, BOCES, RESAs, AEAs, and other larger educational entities, who want to train larger groups of Teachers, Administrators, Chemical Hygiene Officers, and Science Supervisors. These formal safety training sessions are led by STEM Safety instructors and can cover a variety of customized topics.

Participants receive a completion certificate after successful completion of the training program.

Topics include:

  • Legal and ethical responsibilities of science and STEM teachers in ensuring safe learning environments
  • Identification and prevention of common hazards and risks in STEM labs and activities
  • Selection and use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety devices for different STEM disciplines
  • Implementation and enforcement of safety rules and procedures for students and staff
  • Management and disposal of hazardous materials and waste in compliance with local and federal regulations
  • Preparation and response for emergency situations and incidents in STEM labs and classrooms The evaluation and improvement of STEM safety culture and practices in the school and district.
