Panel discussion surrounding common safety concerns found in K-12 science programs in New Jersey. Questions from the audience will be encouraged based on current topics of interest. Multiple known Science Supervisors from New Jersey school districts and a recognized NRCC Chemical Hygiene Officer from Safer STEM to facilitate the safety conversation at the NJ Science Convention. This is a must-attend session for new and experienced educators and supervisors from across New Jersey who are concerned about making their science and STEM instructional spaces safer.
Topics: Duty of Care, Right to Understand, Responsible Chemical Management, Fire Safety & Prevention, Chemical Incompatibility Concerns, Hazard Analysis & Risk Assessment in Planned Activity Selection, Hidden Hazards, Key Findings from Research into STEM Safety, and more to be discussed. All responses will be based on OSHA CFR29 1910.1450 regulations and associated legal safety standards and accepted better professional safety practices.
